Exploring Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): A Journey to Psychological Flexibility

Join us for an immersive 3-hour online workshop delving into the transformative principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Developed by Steven Hayes and colleagues in the late 20th century, ACT seamlessly blends cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness and acceptance strategies to empower individuals to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and purpose.

Special Bonus!

ACT Workbook for Adults to share with your adult clients. 117 pages in pdf format.

ACT Workbook for Children to share with your clients. 70 pages in pdf format.

During this workshop, you will embark on a journey to understand the core tenets of ACT and how you can apply them to enhance your client’s psychological flexibility. We will explore the fundamental belief that suffering is a natural part of the human experience and that attempting to control or suppress negative thoughts and emotions often exacerbates distress.

Through engaging discussions and experiential exercises, you will learn practical techniques to cultivate psychological flexibility, including mindfulness exercises, cognitive diffusion, and values clarification. By gaining insight into these processes, you will discover how to help your clients create distance from their thoughts, embrace the present moment, and align their actions with their deepest values, even in the face of discomfort or adversity.

The workshop will dive into the six core processes of ACT:

1. Cognitive Defusion: Learn to observe thoughts without becoming entangled in them.

2. Acceptance: Embrace thoughts and feelings without judgment or resistance.

3. Present Moment Awareness: Cultivate mindfulness and deepen awareness of the here and now.

4. Self-as-Context: Shift perspective to see oneself beyond thoughts and emotions.

5. Values Clarification: Identify personal values and what truly matters in life.

6. Committed Action: Take meaningful steps aligned with values, despite challenges.

ACT has proven efficacy in addressing a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety disorders, chronic pain, substance abuse, and relationship issues. This workshop offers valuable insights and practical tools to navigate life’s journey with resilience and authenticity.
